God and G.E. and Sunday Morning Musings

Do you remember when we were in our 20's, and we would gather with friends and sit up and talk all night about one thing and another?  Remember when we would spend hours (believing ourselves "deep thinkers") and argue about the existence of God?  I'm sure that debate goes on today, in college classrooms and military barracks and college dorms and living rooms across America.

I now look back on all that discussion, smile and think how silly it all was.  You see, I've had more time to look around at my world, look at all the grand beauty, the great intricacy of living organisms and have no doubt that only God is capable of creating all of these miracles.  And even the grandest inventions of man have come from divine inspiration.

So, I confess to a bit of smirking when I see God's children, walking around blindly, having no problem believing that Apple created the I-Phone, or that G.E. made their refrigerator, yet scoff at the idea that God created beauty right here on earth a million times more beautiful and intricate.

And I've never needed a bible...or someone standing on a pulpit to teach me God....I see God every day...in the multiple layered beauty of a rose, in cotton ball clouds and azure blue waters, in seeing a robin nurturing her young.  I don't know what heaven will be like, and I don't know the what the next world will be like, but, for me, our grand creator gives me the gift of great beauty each and every day.  To accept His gifts, then deny the giver seems to me to be a supreme arrogance.  Thanks, God...by what ever name you go by.

My luck, there will be a bunch of Red Necks standing at the pearly gates, and if or when I get there they will tell me to jump into the back of the truck and we'll go up to the big house.
