"The Great Trump Flameout"

Okay, here's the scenario.

You've got friends over for dinner.  You've finished dinner and are having coffee and dessert in the living room.  You and your friends are having a serious discussion about politics, property taxes and the sad state of affairs at the local elementary school.  Little Johnny, just before bed-time, comes running down the stairs in jammies, wearing a Pirate cap and hefting the toy sword.  He's so cute as he darts about the room slaying invisible foes, boasting of previous victories and the might of his sword.  The adults laugh and cheer him on but, as little Johnny doesn't know when to quit, his cute little performance becomes both an irritant and a distraction from the serious adult conversation ongoing before little Johnny came flitting down the stairs.
Finally, mom tells little Johnny it's time for bed.

This is what we need to tell "the Donald".  Serious conservatives need to remind the Donald of his previous scalding of Republicans as "a bunch of losers", of his stance on abortion before he began catering to conservatives, of his excess personal baggage and how this would keep him out of the White house, of his wild assertions of invading Libya and Iraq and seizing the oil fields, ala Hitler or post-war Russian aggression.  We must tell the Donald to put his pirate cap and sword away and go back to what he was doing before; feeding the Donald ego.

I am a bit disappointed that the Tea Party is encouraging Trump.  This sideshow is deflecting attention to where it needs to be focused; fighting against Obama's effort to turn this nation into a Socialist state.  It also harms the credibility of the Tea Party and feeds the liberals' charge that the TP is not a serious and relevant political force.

Instead, too many conservatives are "trumpeting the Trump".  They are ignoring his ego maniacal sputterings such as "I'm richer than Romney".  Huh?  What the hell does that have to do with anything?

I'm also disappointed with all the news shows who are fueling this circus act.  Yes, I know it draws viewers but I gag every time one of those Trump interviews are aired.  Worse, you have Hannity and even Bill O'Reilly advocating Trump as a serious candidate.

It's time to put "little Johnny" to bed so we can get back to discussing serious issues with real adults.

Where were YOU when Americans asked "why did the usurper in OUR White House seal his records as soon as he was sworn in.. Why was he NOT vetted? Why did he spent over 2 mil in TAXPAYER $ to fight the American people?
Why is this thug using fraudulent social security numbers?
You don't want the questions answered, or think that SOMETHING is wrong?
Well, I DO & YOU ought to be ASHAMED of yourself!

I'm not so sure it's a bad idea. He has passion, business experience like no other, appears to have a genuine interest in saving this country, NOT A CAREER POLITICIAN, conservative without crazy and enough money to win an election.

Thanks for your opinion...but you folks who would even consider Trump scare me to death...where the hell am I going to go if I have to leave the conservatives...I wouldn't trust trump to do anything...he's absolutely slimy...and an egotistic blowhard.

I'm really hoping the Donald will flameout well before any serious election campaigning. He is not a credible or viable candidate and can only hurt the chances of getting a conservative in the White House in 2012. jo

Yes, Jo. The TP has fed his ego and now he's out of control. I think sure he'll run...just hope an early primary takes him out of the running. Meantime, conservatives are going to take a bashing for advocating for this nut job. thanks for your comments.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Trump might be your "great white hope." Looking over the present pool, I don't see that you have any real contenders, let alone winners. Almost makes me think that nobody really wants the job; can't blame em.

Senator Mark Rubio could whip Obama by 20 million votes..and if he chose Governor Christie as VP they'd sweep the House and Senate races too. Thanks for your comments.

Rubio? Half the population doesn't even know who Rubio is. He's not even in the top 8 contenders. I'm not debating that he wouldn't make a great president, just saying that it's a popularity contest and he just isn't known. Mitt Romney on top of the list, that is til Trump came along.

I said it before and I will say it again, the republicans do not want to put a serious canidate forward for fear they will have to take responsibility for what is to come. They are more then willing to let Obama and the Democrats take the lead.

This way when the crash finally hits they believe they can once again point the finger the direction of the Democrats.

Donald Trump is as good as any sacraficial lamb, perhaps even better no true Republican politician will have to play this role.

I for one have serious doubts it will matter much anyway, I don't think any of them will make it pass the 2012 budget debate.

The only problem I have with your thesis, Bob, is that the Republicans like Ryan have taken a huge risk by daring to reform medicare. Candidates Pawlenty and Romney and others are supporting that initiative. If they were "afraid" to run in 2012 why would they be brave enough to tackle a politically unpopular budget initiative? Thanks for your comments.

I'm on the fence about the Donald getting involved with the Republicans. On the one side...there is the issue stated in the post about his personal life being a shambles and his apparent flip-flopping issues which could hurt conservatism winning the day. On the other...the guy does have a lot of money and a penchant for spending it and if that helps the American people, once and for all, determine if Obama is a legal U.S. citizen or not...then I would want to see that happen. As it stands now, no average American citizen can find out the truth because the DOJ is protecting Obama and will continue to do so into the foreseeable future. The spending of lots of money has a way of getting to the bottom of things far quicker than any other route one can take.

It is safe for them to support such an initiative in fact prudent. It is the surest way not to get elected, tell those that already have, they can not have any more. As Obama calls out for more debt to insure status quo through 2012 and solidifies his minority vote block Ameican children go further in debt.

He now has his Trump card for the elections, Osma bin lauden.
